Van loocke started in the beginning of the century as a soaps works company named "the sun", which was active in the manufacturing of liquid glycerine brown soaps and the distribution of petroleum and petroleum products.
After the second world war, the company became more involved in chemical products, in particular wood preservatives based on zinc and coppernaphthenates. A full range of ready to use wood preservatives was being introduced on site. In 1955 a first factory was built, using a 3-ton reactor capable of manufacturing metal soaps mainly used as preservatives for wood treatment and driers for the paint and varnish industry. In 1967 a second factory was built to manufacture alkyd resins under licence in a 6-ton reactor. Other products were added since the late seventies. In 1985 we moved to our existing premises, where we more than doubled our capacity. Since 1992 a 15-ton reactor, together with a pilotplant-reactor, were installed. The installation of a distillation unit gives us the necessary distillation flexibility. From 1990 till october 1999 corn. Van loocke nv was a part of the blagden holding group. In 1999 a management buy-out was succesfully achieved. Our regained independence will create new opportunities for growth and development in the future. Since then we are constantly expanding our production capacity.
